The United Way of White County was formed in 1983 by concerned citizens interested in the well-being of the non-profit agencies that depend on contributions to carry out their functions in White County. The United Way of White County is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization governed by a local, volunteer board of directors and supported by dedicated volunteers.
The UWWC supports 18 agencies providing a wide range of human services directly to the residents of White County. Over 96% of funds invested in the community through the UWWC go directly to the supported agencies. Agencies supported by the United Way must be non-profit, tax-exempt, practice sound financial management, have at least two years in operation before being considered, and be non-discriminatory.
