Credit Card Transaction Security

Protecting the safety of your credit card information is important to us.

We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your credit card information as it is transmitted to us. SSL is the gold standard in Internet encryption technology, which is a method of scrambling data as it travels from your computer to our website's servers.

We also DO NOT store your credit card number or the expiration date or the CVV2/CID on our servers. The credit card information is forwarded through the encrypted SSL layer to our credit card transaction processor. Their site is protected by layers of firewall, security systems and full time staff of security experts.

In order to assist you when you call to inquire about a particular transaction, we have access to only the last 4 digits of the card number and the type of cart (visa/mc/amex). This minimal information is enough to help us help you identify which credit card you used to pay for a purchase without any compromise on the security of your credit card information.

Bank or credit card company liability

Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank or credit card company cannot hold you liable for more than $50 of unauthorized or fraudulent charges on a credit card. Your liability for unauthorized use of a debit card may be higher, but most debit card issuers voluntarily apply the $50 limit to their cards as well. For more information on the Fair Credit Billing Act you can visit:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_Credit_Billing_Act

Remember: If unauthorized use of your credit or debit card does occur, you must notify your card provider, in accordance with the agreement you have with the company. Please contact your card provider for information about your card.

Security
We have put in place commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures designed to safeguard and secure the information we collect online for reasonable foreseeable risk. However, due to the open communication nature of the Internet we cannot fully guarantee that communication between you and us and us and you will be free from unauthorized access by third parties. UNITED WAY WHITE COUNTY MAKES NO WARRANTIES AS TO THE SECURITY OF YOUR DATA COMMUNICATIONS, OR THAT THIRD PARTIES WILL NOT GAIN UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO OR MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER(S) OR ONLINE COMMUNICATIONS. YOU AGREE THAT UNITED WAY WHITE COUNTY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SUCH ACCESS.
